Does Clean Beauty Really Matter?

Parabens, phthalates, sulfates, oxybenzone, triclosan, hydroquinone, and the list goes on and on. These are some of the most common ingredients listed to be black listed by the clean beauty community. But what does clean beauty even mean? Are these non-toxic products really helpful? Since there’s no legal or official definition, many brands have taken it upon themselves to define clean beauty according to themselves.

As I have spent time researching and writing everything there is to know about being a more conscientious consumer for “Clean Beauty”, I could not help but notice a major problem: the extreme presence of misinformation over clean beauty.

Most cosmetics often contain preservatives and it turns out some of these ingredients are harmful to our body or that have never been evaluated for safe use as they are cheap and readily available for mass production. This is because the cosmetics industry is more or less self-regulated within consumer categories and most companies use this to their self-motivated agendas. Thus, many consumers are unknowingly endangering their skin and health.

Does this mean that clean beauty has to be all-natural and organic? Well, the straight answer is no, clean beauty doesn’t have to be that way. As long as certain synthetic ingredients are non-toxic and are proven to be harmless, they can be classified as “clean”. It’s important to discern that an ingredient’s source does not always determine its safety and that many ingredients, whether or not they are natural or organically grown, may be toxic or inspire allergic reactions within the skin on their own or once they are mixed together. So, natural, organic, green beauty products aren’t necessarily clean and you have now just discovered that we have been misled by the beauty industry. Let’s not get too cynical here, shall we? All we wish to inform you here is that it does take a little to question labels like “natural” and “green” because as the saying goes, “the devil is in the details” and it pays to read the ingredients list from time to time. So this does not mean that ALL of your cosmetics are toxic! The purpose of this article is to provide you with the knowledge to distinguish between clean and toxic products. So in order to know what to look for, you have to know what to avoid.

Finding clean beauty brands sounds like it is going to be a hassle now, especially if you’re new to non-toxic beauty. So, in this write-up, we are introducing a brand new cosmetics brand, NICH, to save you time looking for one. This new brand is focused on producing cosmetics that are safe and gentle for your skin without harmful chemicals. The company’s purpose is to create high quality, clean and safe cosmetics without toxic ingredients at affordable prices. The cosmetics were produced under thorough and meticulous research and development efforts to exclude harmful preservatives such as BHA/BHT, parabens, phthalates and triclosan. These compounds are known to be skin irritants, allergens and are potentially hormonal disruptors and carcinogens. NICH uses clean alternatives that are thoughtfully sourced and utilized to help maintain healthy skin and our environment. Their store is stocked with 4 new makeup items. Do check out their latest hero product, NICH Caviar Cushion, which is infused with caviar essence to moisturize the skin and conceals skin imperfections leaving a soft, smooth and natural-looking texture.
